Job Description

A growing construction company in the Annapolis, MD seeks qualified Senior Accountant

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare and analyze P&L statements, balance sheets, and management reports.
  • Perform account reconciliations (bank, credit card, intercompany, prepaid, accruals, fixed assets).
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes with timely, accurate financial data.
  • Oversee AP/AR accuracy, review transactions, and ensure proper coding.
  • Monitor job cost, project cost, or manufacturing cost activity (depending on company type) to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Assist with audits by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
  • Improve and streamline accounting processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, project management, and leadership.
  • Utilize Sage 300 to manage financial data, run reports, troubleshoot issues, and support ongoing system optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 3-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in corporate, construction, manufacturing, or multi-entity environments.
  • Required: Hands-on experience with Sage 300 (ERP or CRE).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and month-end close processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
